30A Reflection

Overall I have learned a lot from this class and I will take a lot away from it because it has mainly taught me many life lessons and also personal tips. Not only have I been taught on how to run a business partially but I have also been taught how to utilize good work ethic in the real world. This class has also taught me how many people are out there in the real world who can help.

Although I wouldn't say I am an entrepreneur right now I feel like I have made progress on how to become one. I believe students in the future will continue to like this class because it is really  lot of opinion based assignments and many people now a days don't mind going out of their comfort zone.Image result for good work

29A Venture Concept No. 2

Overall throughout the course of this class I have noticed that library space throughout all Universities in America is something that will always be needed. Especially at the University of Florida library space is very limited and many students keep on asking for more and more library space. One of the big issues with this problem is that for the places that are open for library space they are never opened long enough and this is getting people more and more frustrated.

This is an opportunity that is wide open because library space is something that will be always needed and also it is something that students want. I have talked to several students throughout this year and interviewed many employees and they are all for the more library space and the extended hours on campus. My focus for the people is all college students so mainly the age of 18-26.

I believe that everyone in the world that is a college student is in the need of more library space and space that has 24/7 hour so that they can come and go when they want. For those who don't like to study in their own dorm room or have roommates on off campus houses that distract from studying makes it more effective to have on campus libraries.

Finally I think it will be very easy to get customers on board and get donations and people to sign up with my program to continue to get libraries worldwide. This is something like cell phones because it is a product that will always be needed and never go away.

28A Your Exit Strategy

I agree that is definitely something to look into about our future and plan for the upcoming. Although many people would sell their business to receive a good amount of money to start up something else or get a new job, I personally would continue my business and pass it down to my family members to set up my family for success.

I would continue to keep my business open for as long as I can because it is something that will be needed for a while because as long as college is still going they will always need library space.

This assignment has helped me out a lot because many people once they see money the want to sell their business because all of the large corporations are looking to buy it and offer good prices. From this assignment I learned that I would continue my business to as long as I could so I could pass it down to my family and set them up in the future.

27A Reading Reflection No. 3

The Art of Social Media by Guy Kawalsk

This book was very relatable because it gave me information and the inside scoop on social media. It related the new technology now a days to business and thats why I thought it was very interesting.

This is very relatable to this class because it goes into depth of how social media can effect business. Much about ENT3003 is about your opinion and your ideas and I think that is mainly what social media is and that is very helpful. Although sometimes ads on social media may not help but if you know how to use it to your advantage it can help you in a big way.

If I had to create an assignment for this class I would make the students make a website that described their product to the readers and the rest of the world. I would also make the students post this on their social media's and see how much feedback they get.

Overall from reading this book I have learned that social media can be a huge asset if you use it in the right way to broadcast your product.

26A Celebrating Failure

Although this semester has been great for me I have also failed and its mainly come from my Biology class because I am more of a math guy. I am a finance major and I took this biology class because I needed the credit and it has ended hurting my gpa. Although I am doing poorly I am hoping I can grind my way through the final exam and end with a B. Although the first couple of testes I studied a couple days in advance I still struggled on the tests.

From this failure I have learned that studying in the future earlier and in advance can help me. With this failure although it has not been the best for me in the moment it has taught me in the future to study more and learn from my mistakes.

What's Next

Overall I found out that the people who want changes are willing to cooperate and just other buildings on campus that are unneeded and change them into library space. The amount of space on campus for places to study is very limited and something must be done. Although i am looking for money it is mainly to serve the expenses to keep the libraries open later and pay the employees that have to work overtime. While some people may think this isn't a good idea, I think the other way because it is so visible to see all of the students who want different places to stud because there is never enough room for them study when they go to Marston and Library West. My product is something that will help the community which I think is a reason why it will do so well and I think that I will get many people interested. Also the main problems from all 3 of these people was that the libraries are never open late night and they are always packed. The 3 different people all had different characteristics which makes these results more significant.

23A Your Venture's Unfair Advantage

1. My Friend At USC
My friend got the hours of libraries extended at USC and told me about some tips to persuade the school into extending the hours.

2. My Mom
My mom has ran a business since she was 28. I can use her experience and tips to my advantage.

3. Parents with capital to help me start my own business
This is a huge help because although I know other parents for other kids are able to help out in the same way there are also some parents who can't help out.

4. My Communication Skills
For some people it takes time to get comfortable and chat with new people but for me I able to hold a conversation and I feel like that is very important.

5. My Work Ethic
Although many people when they succeed they take their foot off the gas a little, I'm different,  I continue to strive and work like I just failed.

6. Staying Humble
This characteristic I feel is very important because when some people exceed their expectations they will get too cocky and end up failing but I try and stay humble.

7. Knowing my target Market
It is very tough to locate your exact target market so for me I take pride in this because I know my market would be fr college students.

8. College Education
Having a college education from a terrific school is something that is also very special and gives me a huge advantage over some kids who didn't go to college or went to college but not somewhere as good as UF.

9. Personality
Yes everyone has a personality but I believe mine is very beneficial because it allows me to talk to others with ease and communicate my idea to others.

10. Loyalty
This is extremely valuable and is very rare because even if I suffer a little bit I will continue to work very hard and not give up.

Overall I think that my mom is the best source here because she is someone I can talk to on a daily basis and get advice from. She also has been an entrepreneur for many years now and has that experience under her belt.

Elevator Pitch No. 3

From the last elevator pitch everyone told me that they liked my idea and that I should follow through with it. Over the course of the time between these two elevator pitches of have taken people's feedback and used it in creating another one. In this pitch I tried getting straight to the point and also I tried to speak louder.

21A Reading Reflection No. 2

I read "How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big by Scott Adams" and I thought overall it connected to this class very closely. The main idea in this book was to put your family and close friends above the other in your life and not to take anything for granted.

This connected to this class because of the entrepreneur mindset. I have the same mindset because Scott also talked about how it is important to put in all your effort in everything you do.

If I had to create and exercise I would make everyone tell me what business they would like to run if they had to become an entrepreneur.

My biggest surprise after reading this article was how composed Adams was able to stay after constant defeat and how he would continue to go right back to work.

20A Growing Your Social Capital

Domain
My older cousin Andrew used to go to school at the University of Michigan and he saw that library space was a problem there too and made a change and went to the head of school acting as a huge amount of the students. He gave me many ideas when I told him the problem here at the University of Florida.

Market
My friend Johnny is opening a study and tutor for tougher classes in business and biology. He is targeting the same ages as I am and he gave me many ideas on how to get some of the students on his side. By giving bar tabs if you join and also many coupons to food places on campus.

Supplier
My buddy had an internship who used to ship and package books and library materials last summer and told me how much space is actually needed to create a library. I was talking to him over email the other day and he kept telling me how important it was too have space for all of these materials.

Overall it is definitely so true that it is who you know and not what you know. Many of my buddies here gave me tips on how to start this idea and how to do it.

19A Idea Napkin No. 2

I am a student and determined worker who strives to always do my best. I am constantly looking to become a better person. I like to show myself to people with my work ethic because that is what I am confident in the most. I also Love talking to others and I'm always open to making new connections which I think will help me once I get into the real business world. I plan extending library space on campus and also extending the hours that they are open. I think with using my skills to talk to the head people at the University of Florida I will do well in making changes.

My customers will be receiving more space on campus to study and also the versatility to study at any hour during the day. Students at the University of Florida are in need of this and can agree with me that study space on campus is very limited.

The feedback I got was perfect for me because it was directly about my idea. Over time I have implemented what others have said to make my idea better. I just have to continue on talking to the public to match their ideas with mine.

17A Elevator Pitch Number 2

After taking the feedback and reviewing my last elevator pitch I saw that mine needed to be a little bit longer and also I needed to be more into it. Some of the points I make I need to emphasize them a little bit more and tell people exactly what the problem is here. The first one was definitely professional and I must continue to speak loudly and clearly like I did in the first one. After reviewing the feedback I got from my peers I have tried to extend and improve my elevator pitch.

18A Customer Avatar

My Blue Robot Avatar

My Customer Avatar

My customer's favorite hobbies include hanging with family and friends, enjoys all types of sports, and working hard in school and in any task. My customer's work ethic is something that describes them the most because that is what will make you successful at the end of the day. My avatar has a stable family and a couple kids and mainly just has his life in tact.

Overall I have a few things in common with my avatar and that is the dedication to my work ethic. the main reason for this is so that some day when I'm older I can just sit back and relax and enjoy life. Also I enjoy watching sports just like my customer does. Lastly my customer avatar is interested and in need of more library space just like I am to make sure my work ethic continues.

16A What's Your Secret Sauce?

My Human Capital:

Out Going: I believe that being out going has helped me with relationships and also it helps with being able to communicate with people.

Flexible: Being flexible is something that is necessary for the real world because things can change at any moment.

Team Player: I always am willing to help someone out and work well in groups.

Creative: I try and think out side the box when I can to create a gap between me and others.

Competitive: Being competitive is important because I always try to do my best.

Interviews:

Burcal: "You are extremely out going and can talk to people with ease."

Nol: "You are always ready to grind and put in the effort to succeed."

Ceej: "Ceej talked about how were are similar in the fact that we both always go for the best grades and have the same mindset."

Mom: "Always ready to work hard and do whatever it takes to do well and is ready to work whenever."

Bechtel: "You are always up and ready to go and never want to fail and thats what makes you special Nick."

Overall throughout these interviews it is seen that is important to set yourself apart from others with your characteristics. The one thing that is the most important is hard work I believe because you can struggle with something and then end up working hard and being really good at it. Having a good work ethic is extremely important here at college but even more important in the real world and that is what I mainly got out of this assignment.

15A Figuring Out Buyer Behavior 2

Following my three interviews this past week I saw that these three people had one common answer and that was that library space on campus is limited and the hours aren't long enough. Even within the community of Gainesville I asked around and they agreed too because many students are ending up using the public libraries nearby and it is conflicting with the lives of the people in the community. Although this would increase taxes and tuition a little bit everyone was not really worried about that because they figured if they had the right place to study and do well in college it would pay off in the long run. Not only would my idea help create more space on campus to do work but it would also extend the hours of the places that are open today. This mean that the students that attend University of Florida can go to the library without having the hassle of finding a table whenever they want.  Even if they have a job which one of the girls that I interviewed did they still will have time to go because mostly all of the libraries will be 24/7.

Halfway Reflection

1. The behaviors I have used to keep up with this course is to work hard and actually take this as a serious class to get the most out of it. Another thing that has helped is being organized with all of the interviews that we have had to take and also being creative in choosing a business that I wanted to create.

2. Sometimes in this class when the work starts to add up and you have a decent amount left you want to quit and stop. This is one of the times that I got over something and strived to get of the hump and continued to work hard.

3.
Tip 1: Take this class seriously
Tip 2: When doing your interviews, get to know the person
Tip 3: Set weekly reminders of when things are do especially the cupcakes.

Assignment 13A

"Elon Musk" by Ashlee Vance

1.  Elon Musk is one of the biggest if not the biggest entrepreneurs in the world today. He is the creator of SpaceX as well the electric car company Tesla. Musk grew up with few resources and had to work on his own to pay for his own college. He started in 1990 when he created Zip2 and when he sold it profited almost 22 million.

2. Throughout this article I've observed many competences. He grew up with nothing and always strived to do his best. He also was never afraid to start a business and always followed through with his plan.

3. The part that I was a little confused on was how he got into the University of Penn right after he started at a small university in Canada.

4. I would Elon Musk these two following questions:
  • Do you work so hard because of the money or the fame?
  • How were you able to get the funds to start your first business?

5. I think Elon Musk's opinion of hard work was interesting because he's been working hard since he was 17 by working and paying for his college at the same time.

Also the main problems from all 3 of these people was that the libraries are never open late night and they are always packed. The 3 different people all had different characteristics which makes these results more significant.

Idea Napkin Number 1

I am Nick Arcuri and I have a plan for the amount of library space that is on campus. I plan on being very social with this idea and I will convey it to the public in an interesting way.

I am offering more library space on campus for UF college students which will be well needed. This is something that will be very efficient and will be open 24/7.

The students at UF need this and they will want this to happen because of the lack of space on campus to study.

They care about this because this is their future and they will want to have multiple places to go and study.

The main difference about this library compared to others is that it will always be open 24 hours and there will be plenty of space for students.

Solving the Problem

Opportunity:
The library space on campus just simply isn't enough and the hours that they are open aren't long enough. The lack of space that the University gives college students is just simply not enough. The libraries at UF are only open 24/7 for the week of finals and it should be open 24/7 all year round.

Solution:
The solution for Library space at UF should be extending the hours and adding more library on campus. After interviewing people it is shown that this problem exists on a daily basis and it truly does effect people's lives. Extending the hours longer will make it easier for everyone to go to the library and choose the time they want to go at. During finals week it gets so busy so if there was more space on campus it makes it way easier for everyone.

Assignment 7A: Test the Hypothesis, Part 1

There does not seem to be much library space on campus at UF and the hours aren't long enough.

The Who? College students who attend UF
The What? There isn't much space and the hours they aren't open long enough
The Why? There is no more space for another library and the University doesn't want to pay more to keep them open

I mainly just go during finals week and whenever I have tests.

How has it been when you go to the library?
Whenever I go I feel like its always full and there are no rooms available.

Why do you think it is so full?
Probably because there is only 2 main libraries and that isn't enough for all the students at UF.

Do you think the University can fix this issue?
If they extended the hours at least more people would have more time to study and also made more library space.

2. Fifth Year Graduate Student

How often do you go to the library?
I usually just study at my apartment but whenever my roommates are home I go to the library.

How is it when you go to the library?
It isn't that bad when I go although when I want to go at night Marston isn't open.

Why do you think the University doesn't keep it open 24/7?
They don't want to pay employees and the pay to keep it open late night.

What can the University do to fix this?
Either make more libraries open late night or make more library space on campus.

3. Senior that lives off Campus

Living off Campus do you have any problems with the libraries?
Yeah I usually go at night since I work during the day and it is always closing when I get there.

What can the University do to change this?
Extend the hours

I try and study at home when my roommates aren't home.

Is this working for you?
Yes so far my grades are good this semester.

4. Student who owns a car

How is it for when you go to the libraries?
I try and drive to the public library but when I go I feel like its always busy.

How is it when you go?
I like to get a room and all the rooms are always busy.

Why do you think the University can't have more rooms?
There isn't enough space to build more rooms.

Why don't you use the libraries at your dorm?
They are always extremely busy and sometimes they are used for different reasons.

How can the University fix this?
Use other space on campus for libraries.

Summary:
Overall I found out that the people who want changes are willing to cooperate and just other buildings on campus that are unneeded and change them into library space. Also the main problems from all 5 of these people was that the libraries are never open late night and they are always packed. The 5 different people all had different characteristics which makes these results more significant.

6A Identifying Opportunities in Economic and Regulatory Trends

Economic Opportunities

1.  Tax Policy That Encourages Growth

I found this opportunity by keeping up with the daily news and current trends around the world. A tax policy that will focus on making smart decisions for our government will improve our nation as a whole. The costly loopholes that we are taking in now can be eliminated by overhauling the tax codes. Following a simple policy of cutting and investing can grow our economy and help our government as a whole. The opportunity is there for our government and as long as they follow and invest in activities that will grow the nation then it will succeed.

2. Spend on Public Works

I found this opportunity by watching the news daily and keeping up with the media recently. I came up with this opportunity because it just makes complete sense. Public work helps the government mainly because increasing public works like building more roads and bridges increases jobs which helps the economy. For example 1 million dollars spent on public works can create almost 20,000 jobs. This is something that America did to prevent the Great Depression and we should bring that back and increase public works.

Regulatory Opportunities

1. Paid Sick Leave

I found this opportunity online just looking at the news and it is slowly starting to become mandatory to pay for sick leave. This is something that has been introduced in Congress and have gained traction. This opportunity is something that has already been basically established by big businesses but for local businesses some people may say it will be a problem but I think it is a good opportunity for the people and the companies. I see this as an opportunity because my mom's job gets paid leave and I see how good of a relationship her and her boss.

2. Alachua County raising tobacco age to 21

I found this opportunity when I saw it in the newspaper. This will take place fully in nine months. Overall I do not like the decision to do this and I formed the opportunity because I think the main age that tobacco appeals to is between the age 18 and 21. The average customer especially in a college town won't be above the age of 21. I saw this opportunity because I am not 21 so someone who is over the age of 21 may not respond to it because it doesn't really matter.

5A Identifying Local Opportunities

1. "Main Street post office dropbox burglarized"

Link: https://infoweb.newsbank.com/apps/news/document-view?p=WORLDNEWS&t=pubname%3AGSGB%21Gainesville%2BSun%252C%2BThe%2B%2528FL%2529/year%3A2019%212019/mody%3A0122%21January%2B22&f=advanced&format=text&docref=news/17128118DC9C7E50

This story describes how a post office in Gainesville got burglarized over the weekend. Police are still unaware of how much mail was taken. The problem for the people in the area is that they're mail is getting stolen and for the police they don't know who the person is and they have a burglar running on the lose. Not only is this a problem for the people right now but it can affect their safety in the future.

2. "County raises tobacco buying age to 21"

Link: https://infoweb.newsbank.com/apps/news/document-view?p=WORLDNEWS&t=pubname%3AGSGB%21Gainesville%2BSun%252C%2BThe%2B%2528FL%2529/year%3A2019%212019/mody%3A0122%21January%2B22&f=advanced&format=text&docref=news/17128118C04E4EE0

This story describes that the legal age to buy tobacco is getting increased from 18 to 21 in Alachua County. The license to sell tobacco for stores will cost $230 and stores with licenses cannot be within 1000 feet of a public school. This will become official in 9 months.  The problem in this story is that this could cause businesses to lose income and also the people in the neighborhood may get upset due to this.

3.  "Two arrested on fraud, drug charges after I-75 stop"

Link: https://infoweb.newsbank.com/apps/news/document-view?p=WORLDNEWS&t=pubname%3AGSGB%21Gainesville%2BSun%252C%2BThe%2B%2528FL%2529/year%3A2019%212019/mody%3A0123%21January%2B23&f=advanced&format=text&docref=news/17128119D28E6978

This story describes how two central Florida residents were arrested due to drugs in the car. The officer stopped the vehicle and the K9 searched the car and ended up finding drugs in the car. These people also had several stolen credit cards in the car. The problem that the people face in the future is that this means there is drugs in the area and also that this area could be prone to robbery.

4. "Gainesville delivery services expand options for staying in"

Link: https://infoweb.newsbank.com/apps/news/document-view?p=WORLDNEWS&t=pubname%3AGSGB%21Gainesville%2BSun%252C%2BThe%2B%2528FL%2529/year%3A2019%212019/mody%3A0119%21January%2B19&f=advanced&format=text&docref=news/17118190408A61C8

This article goes into depth of how much delivery has expanded in the past couple of years. Bite Squad and Uber eats are the major delivery services in Gainesville. The problem in this article is that this is something that is making the people lazier and lazier. As a whole it is making everyone less social.

5.  "DeSantis vows to expand private school scholarship program"

Link: https://infoweb.newsbank.com/apps/news/document-view?p=WORLDNEWS&t=pubname%3AGSGB%21Gainesville%2BSun%252C%2BThe%2B%2528FL%2529/year%3A2019%212019/mody%3A0121%21January%2B21&f=advanced&format=text&docref=news/17122C9182DD4AA8

This story describes how Desantis wants to expand private school scholarships. One of the main problems focussed in this article is that he is forgetting about the students in public schools and that he should focus on all children as a whole. This is a problem for the people because this can cause uproar from the parents who have kids that go to public schools.

Forming an Opportunity Belief

Every day college students are looking to go to the library to study. On campus there are really only two main libraries and once finals week comes around it gets crazy to the point where you have to reserve a room like a couple days before. The lack of library space causes students to end up studying in their dorms or in their common rooms on the floor of their dorm. This can create a lot of distraction for these kids because then they have to go through the schedule of their roommate too if they are working in their own room. If there was more library space and the hours were extended throughout the whole semester this wouldn't be a problem. This is an unmet need for the students at University of Florida. Personally I like to work in a place that is quiet and I can get easily distracted so more seats or more hours that I can study in a quiet place would be extremely beneficial.

1. First Year Business Student

Have you experienced any problems with the Libraries hours or seating?
"Yes one of the main issues is when I am working late and basically get cut off due to the short hours."

How often does this problem occur?
"Whenever  I go to the library late at night I feel like I always get cut off and during finals week the library is always so packed so I end up having to study in my room."

How are you dealing with this problem?
"Personally I try to get to the library during that day or study when my roommate is in class and I am in the room alone."

Is this solution working?
"I am still getting my work done which is good but I would still prefer better hours."

2. Fifth Year Graduate Student

Being a Grad student have any problems with the Libraries?
"They have designated areas for grad students but the hours are the same and I wish both libraries were 24/7 throughout the whole semester."

When did you start to notice this problem?
"Honestly this year was where it really effected me because it is my toughest year of college and I need to spend as much time I can studying."

How are you getting around this problem?
"I try and study as much as I can during the available hours but once it gets busy I book rooms in advance."

Is this working?
"Booking a room in advance has been substantial but once it get towards finals week I feel like it will become tougher and tougher to get a spot."

3. Third Year Off-Campus Student

Although you live off campus do you still find any problems with the libraries?
"I actually spend all my time studying on campus because I can't focus much at home, but the libraries on campus should add another building designated just for studying and a quiet place since the ones here are extremely busy."

How long ago did you first notice this?
"The past two years is when it hit because living in an off campus house with 4 roommates is tough to study in compared to my dorm my freshman year."

How do you avoid this problem?
"I try and do as much studying at my fraternity's house since we have a study room there."

Is this solution working for you?
"Right now my grades and everything are good so yeah."

Reflection:
Over the course of the day I interviewed students of different ages and qualities to make sure the results are factual. The one main thing that all three of these students agreed on was that the libraries should be opened longer and more space should be available. I learned how this problem exists basically on a daily basis for them and I think I will be more aware of it daily.

Summary:
This opportunity is still something that should be fixed by the University of Florida and these interviews support that. Based on this interviews this solution is stronger than it was prior because of how much it is actually needed. The lack of space to study that the University offers to students must be addressed. Feedback from students like this is extremely important to fix issues like this.

Entrepreneurship Story

Right at the beginning of High School me and my brother created our own Landscaping business. The company was called Arcuri Cousins Landscaping because the majority of my cousins also helped with our business. We started out going door to door asking our fellow neighbors if they wanted us to maintain their lawn and any other maintenance that they need. We started with a few houses based on sending out flyers and stuff and ended up with around 15 houses to mow and weed whack every week. Although this wasn't that much it still taught me how to run a business a little. Originally when we started we would just take all the profit and split into how many guys were working at the time but over the years we learned to put some away or advertise with some of it by buying shirts and more business cards to add on to our customers. Not only did we just cut and maintain lawns but we would also hedge bushes, mulch, and when the winter came around we would snow blow and snow shovel. the reason why I took this class was to see if I had the traits to be an entrepreneur in the future but to also learn more about.
