Opportunity: Improve the amount of library space on campus

Do you use the libraries frequently?
- Yes I go a decent amount
How is it when you go to the library?
- I always feel like it is packed when I go
Hav other people told you of any bad experiences?
- Yeah many people tell me when they go at night they feel like it is never opened
Do you think UF can improve this problem?
- Yes if they added more study space on campus or extended the hours

Do you go to the libraries even though your'e off campus?
- Yeah, whenever my roommates are home I like to study at the library
How is your time at the library?
- The last couple times I've went it has been very busy
How was it before that?
- It wasn't that bad because I would go early in the morning
What should UF do to fix this issue?
- They can definitely extend the hours to give the students more time to go

Although they have separate study areas for graduate students hows your experience with libraries?
- There is very limited sections for us so I use the public space but its always busy too
Do you every just study at home?
- I try to when my roommates aren't home but when they are I like to go the library
Overall how what can the University do to improve the library space?
- They should take some unused space on campus and use that for study space.

Owning a car do you use the Gainseville Public Library or UF's library?
- I try and go to the public library but when I can but whenever its closed I go to UF

- It is so busy even at night and some of the libraries aren't even 24/7
What should UF do to improve this?
- They should make all libraries on campus open for 24 hours and add one or two more study spaces on campus

Being a Bio Student do you the lab rooms or libraries?
- I go to the lab rooms for my bio homework but for my other stuff I like to go the library
How has it been when you go the library?
- I usually go at night and I am crammed in because it is so busy
What should UF do to fix this issue?
- They should some places on campus that are unneeded and turn them into study places.
Inside the boundary:
Who's in it? People who live on campus and use the library frequently
What the need is? For UF students to do well in school they need bigger places to study
Why the need exists? The need exists because the libraries aren't all open 24/7
Outside the Boundary:
Who's in not? People who live off campus and have access to other study areas
What the need is not? An improved library space
Alternative explanations: Some people don't mind being crammed in the library and it bothers some others
Hey Nick, I am glad to see that you found some more people to interview for your topic. I still think that you have a strong idea here, and I am glad to see you have been able to narrow down the people that would be interested in your idea. Getting a good range of people that are interested in your idea is good and will lead to success.

ReplyDeleteGreat job identifying the people that are both inside and outside of the opportunity boundary. There is a substantial amount of students that live off campus and don't use the libraries as often and so wouldn't have any need for this. However, the people that are crammed in the libraries would probably be extremely grateful for some additional study spaces on campus.
